It is an industry that is rapidly growing and changing. Core Scientific, an American company, went public in January through a merger of special purpose acquisition companies (SPAC). This made it the most publicly traded cryptocurrency mining company by revenue and hashrate. Core Scientific’s hash rate leads all public companies with 8.3 exahashes per second (Eh/s), and it mined 5,769 BTC in 2021, generating about $545 million in revenue. Riot Blockchain Technologies (NASDAQ:), and Hive Blockchain Technologies are second and third, respectively, in terms of revenue.
