(Reuters) – Meta Platforms Inc, Facebook’s owner, is preparing cuts in its Reality Labs Division. This division was a key component of the strategy to refocus on hardware and the “metaverse,” a spokeswoman confirmed to Reuters Wednesday.

Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth told Reality Labs staffers during a weekly Q&A session on Tuesday to expect the changes to be announced within a week, according to a summary of his comments viewed by Reuters and confirmed by the spokesperson.

She said that Meta wasn’t planning to layoffs in the wake of these changes.
