(Reuters] – Johnny Depp’s exwife Amber Heard will appear on Monday at the witness stand in a trial for defamation. The case is filled with shocking allegations about physical and emotional abuse by both of them.

In the case, jurors listened to the explicit recordings of testimony and arguments by the couple about the severed finger and the feces found in bed. Also the alleged sexual assault using a bottle.

Depp, now aged 58, sued Heard, 36 for $50m, alleging that she defamed Depp when she claimed that she was the victim of domestic violence. Heard has counter-sued, asking for $100m. He claims that Depp made her look bad by calling her an liar.

Heard, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star, testified that he had never struck him and claimed that Depp was the victim of their abuse. He said that Heard had thrown a vodka glass at Depp in early 2015.

Depp claimed that feces had been found under the bed of Depp and Heard in April 2016. Heard claimed that the couple left their feces in their bed as an “horrible, practical joke.”

Heard, who is most well-known for her roles in “Aquaman,” denied cutting Depp’s finger. Heard said that she struck him only to defend her or her sister. Depp allegedly assaulted Heard by placing a vodka bottle into her vagina, while she threatened to kill him.

Depp’s lawyers have yet to cross-examine Heard.

Heard’s December 2018 Washington Post opinion piece is the key to this legal case. Depp was not mentioned in the article, though his lawyer said that he was clearly referring to him. After less than two years, the couple filed for divorce in 2017.

Depp was once a Hollywood star and said that Heard’s accusations cost him everything. Depp’s new movie “Pirates” was cancelled and he was replaced by the director of “Fantastic Beasts”, a spinoff from Harry Potter.

Heard’s lawyers argued that Heard told the truth, and her opinions were protected under the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Closing arguments will be held on May 27,

Depp lost his libel suit against The Sun two years ago. This British tabloid called him a “wifebeater”. Heard had been repeatedly attacked by Depp, a judge at the London High Court ruled.

The case was filed by Depp’s lawyers in Fairfax County. Fairfax County is where the Washington Post is located. The newspaper is not involved in the case.
