NFT hackers target Seth Green. Film star loses $300k in NFTs

American actor Seth Green and comedian is now the victim of a phishing scam. The hackers took away four NFTs totaling more than $300,000.

He took to Twitter (NYSE 🙂 Tuesday to report the attack, and pleaded with NFT members to stop buying the NFTs.

These pieces belonged to the highly sought-after Bored Ape Yacht Club and Mutant Ape Yacht Club. The hacker took around 145 Ethereum or more than $300,000.000 in NFTs. He then proceeded immediately to sell the stolen collectibles.

The Mutant Ape and Bored Ape were sold together for nearly $200,000 each. The remaining two NFTs were worth around $26,000 each, based on the collection’s floor price at the time of the attack.

Green was able to track down one buyer in the wake of the incident. He describes himself on Twitter as a street photographer.

“@DarkWing84 looks like you bought my stolen ape- hit me up so we can fix it,” the actor tweeted. Green did not receive any response. NFT platform OpenSea marked the items suspicious to prevent them being bought or sold. Twitter users argued that this decision could not stop hackers cashing in. All they have to do is to transfer NFTs onto another NFT trading platform.
