REUTERS/Brendan McDerWASHINGTON (Reuters) – Rudy Giuliani, who served as former U.S. President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, met for more than nine hours on Friday with the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, CNN reported, citing two sources.
Giuliani is a former mayor for New York City. He had not previously agreed to testify before the panel, as his lawyer Robert Costello explained earlier in this month. Giuliani reportedly agreed to an interview that would be transcribed, according to the committee.
Costello, and the entire committee, did not respond immediately to Reuters’ requests for comment regarding the CNN report.
This committee will establish Trump’s actions during a storm of supporters at the Capitol in January last year. Members of Congress as well as Vice President Mike Pence were forced to flee to safety.
Congress met to officially certify the victory of Democrat Joe Biden over Republican Trump during November 2020.
The investigation involved more than 900 individuals, many of whom were aides to Trump White House.
