Express Jumps as Q1 Results Exceed Expectations -Breaking

Investing.com — Fashion retailer Express, Inc. (NYSE:) reported better than expected revenue before the open Wednesday, sending its stock up more than 11%.

On revenue of $450.79million, the company posted a $0.10 loss per share. This was higher than Street expectations. Investing.com polled analysts and predicted revenue of $435.39 Million.

This company recorded the most active Express Insider members during its history, which boosted revenue.

Express saw an increase of 21% in online demand and comparable sales. The company also reported that their gross margin grew by 640 basis points, despite the $6 million supply chain impact.

Our expectations were exceeded by our first quarter results. Express Chief Executive Officer Tim Baxter stated that the first quarter saw positive comparable sales at 31% and double-digit sales for every major channel and category. He also said that the company had the most active loyalty members ever recorded.

Express expects adjusted earnings to be between $0.14 to $0.20 per share.
