Paris demands probe after French journalist killed in Ukraine -Breaking

PARIS, (Reuters) –France Monday requested an investigation following the killing of a French journalist who was in Ukraine to assist in evacuations of civilians.

France demands an investigation into the facts of this tragedy as quickly as possible, Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna said Monday in a statement. Colonna was visiting Ukraine at that time.

Frederic Leclerc Imhoff (32), was the latest journalist to be killed in Ukraine since Russia’s invasion in February. He was reporting for French TV channel BFM, according to his employer.

Serhiy Hadidai, the governor of Ukraine’s Luhansk Region said that an armoured transport vehicle had been hit with shrapnel by a Russian shell. This killed the journalist. Attached is a picture of a truck which appeared to be fitted with armour.

He stated that evacuations were put on hold after the strike.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry has not yet responded to the request for comment. Moscow repeatedly denies that it targets civilians in Ukraine.

Colonna stated on Twitter (NYSE 🙂 she spoke to Luhansk Governor and asked President Volodymyr Zeleskiy for an inquiry.

Beide had promised her their support.

She said, “It’s a double crime for a humanitarian convoy to attack a journalist.”

Tweet by President Emmanuel Macron: Frederic Leclerc – Imhoff was there to expose the realities of war. He was fatally injured while aboard a humanitarian bus carrying civilians who had been forced to flee Russian bombs.

Oleg Nikolenko (a spokesperson for Ukraine’s foreign ministry) said that the killing was strongly condemned on Twitter. Russians continue to commit crimes against Ukrainian media workers.
