(Reuters) – JD, Britain’s largest sportswear retailer (NASDAQ:). Elite Sports and Sports allegedly violated competition law when they fixed the retail price of certain branded clothes products manufactured by Rangers Football Club. This was provisionally discovered on Tuesday by UK competition watchdog.

According to the Competition and Markets Authority, (CMA), the preliminary findings of its investigation found that JD Sports conspired with all three parties to keep Elite’s Gers Online from selling the shirt at a lower price than the original retail price.

JD Sports stated that it is reviewing CMA’s findings. It has also set aside 2,000,000 pounds ($2.50 Million) in its financial statements for the January year to cover a possible fine or legal cost.

CMA stated in a statement that Rangers FC was also involved in the alleged collusion, but not to fix the retail price for adult short-sleeved reproduction shirts starting in September 2018, and ending at most mid-November 2018.

CMA stated that Elite and JD requested leniency in the regulatory investigation and admitted to involvement in cartel activities. The regulator said that if the two men cooperate in the investigation they will each receive a reduced amount of any financial sanctions the regulator may decide to impose.

Businesses found guilty of violating the prohibitions can receive a maximum 10% penalty on their annual global group turnover.

Rangers FC (elite and Scotland-based Premiership club Rangers FC) did not immediately reply to inquiries for comments.
