Moderna aims to deliver 1 billion more vaccine doses to low-income countries in 2022 By Reuters

(Reuters). Moderna Inc stated Friday that one million doses of COVID-19 vaccine will be delivered to low-income countries by 2022. This is in addition to what it has already pledged to the COVAX global vaccine-sharing platform.

They will form part of approximately 2-3 billion vaccines produced by the company next year.

Moderna, announced on Thursday plans to invest as much as $500 million to construct a factory to manufacture up to 500 million doses mRNA vaccinations in Africa each year.

Company had previously committed, in May, to supply as many as 500 million doses COVID-19 to COVAX from the fourth quarter to 2022.

Bancel declared, “We have committed to increasing our production and expanding our supply until our vaccine no longer needs in low-income nations.”
