Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The index moved 1.09% higher to reach a new 1-month peak at NYSE. In contrast, it gained 0.75%.

Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ) was the session’s worst-performing company. They fell 3.64%, or 1.85 point to trade at 48.92 by the end. McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE:) declined 0.94% or 2.30 points to end at 242.25 and Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:) was down 0.72% or 0.40 points to 55.25.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were JB Hunt Transport Services Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 8.74% to 190.55, Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:) which was up 6.78% to settle at 48.38 and Halliburton Company (NYSE:) which gained 4.88% to close at 26.01.

These were the worst performers WestRock Co (NYSE 🙂 fell 5.58% at 46.57 in late trading, International Paper (NYSE 🙂 dropped 4.53% to 53.28 Packaging Corp America (NYSE) was at 133.71, down 3.8% from the previous close.

These were the top performers in the NASDAQ Composite LM Funding America Inc (NASDAQ:), which increased 38.08% at 4.750; Waitr Holdings Inc, (NASDAQ:), which was up 38.18% to settle at 1.42200; Jasper Therapeutics Inc, (NASDAQ:), which gained 31.57% at close at 16.420

These were the worst performers Duck Creek Technologies Inc (NASDAQ.) fell 24.42% at 34.94 in late trading. Very Good Food Company Inc was also down (2.42%) to close at 1.77. Aerovate Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ 🙂 was at its lowest point of 18.20%, or 14.21 at the closing.

The New York Stock Exchange saw falling stocks surpass advancing stocks by 1633 to1568. 125 was unchanged. On the Nasdaq Stock Exchange 2069 declined and 1507 advanced while 164 was unchanged.

JB Hunt Transport Services Inc. (NASDAQ:), shares rose 8.74% to new all-time highs, or from 15.31 to 190.55. Halliburton Company shares (NYSE:), rose to 52 week highs, gaining 4.88% (1.21 to 26.1). Duck Creek Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:), shares dropped to new lows, down 24.42% or 11.29 to 34.94. Jasper Therapeutics Inc. shares (NASDAQ) rose to their highest levels; 31.57%, 3.940 and 16.420.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 3.32% to 16.30 a new 1-month low.

The December delivery of Gold Futures was lower by 1.66%, or 29.90, to $1768.00 per troy ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which rose 1.3% to reach $82.31 a bar in November, and December Brent oil, which rose 0.89 to trade at $84.75 each barrel.

EUR/USD rose 0.8% to 1.1603, and USD/JPY rose by 0.53%, to 114.26.

US Dollar Index Futures were down 0.2% at 93.942.
