Alec Baldwin fires prop gun on set of movie, killing a crew member and injuring director

Alec Baldwin was a Hollywood actor who fired a firearm from the set on Thursday. The director of photography for his film died and its director was injured, according to police.
Halyna HUTCHINS, 42, died and Joel Souza 48 was injured while filming “Rust,” an American Western, at Bonanza Creek Ranch near Sante Fe in New Mexico. According to Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office.
Hutchins was flown by helicopter to University of New Mexico Hospital, where she was declared dead. Souza was transported to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical center in order to receive treatment for his injuries.
Investigating the circumstances surrounding this shooting is underway. The incident has not been investigated.
Baldwin’s spokesperson said that there was an accident on Rust today. It involved the misfired of a blanks-filled prop gun. Production has been stopped for now. Our top priority is to ensure the safety of our crew and cast.
Hutchins’s death echos that of Brandon Lee (son of Bruce Lee), who died from complications related to his role in the movie “The Crow”. Brandon Lee was shot in the head with a prop gun while filming “The Crow,” 1993.
