BEIJING (Reuters – Chinese state-owned firms have requested regulators adjust lending restrictions for developers of property to allow them to finance mergers and acquisitions.

Companies stated that they may violate the “three redlines” financial guidelines that the central bank has placed on developers last year. They must comply with these requirements in order to receive new bank loans.

Cailianshe did not provide details about the state-owned companies, citing unidentified sources.

China’s recent property woes have shaken global markets since the liquidity squeeze and debt-laden developers like Evergrande Group, Kaisa Group and peers Kaisa Group experienced liquidity issues. This has left investors worried about what will happen to their economy.

Local governments tried to force Evergrande-owned property developers and government-backed firms to acquire some assets, according to Reuters. However, lending regulations have kept them from making any more of such deals.

According to the central bank, Evergrande’s debt woes were manageable and the government would finance support the resumption for troubled developers’ projects in October.

Reuters reports that some banks recently increased the speed of disbursement for home loans in certain cities, however, no new credit wave is yet being released amid a strong regulatory push to deleverage this sector.
