REUTERS/Aly Song(Reuters) – Tesla (NASDAQ) shares rose on the Frankfurt bourse after Elon Musk, chief executive officer and top holder of Tesla stock, reported overnight filings. Musk had sold approximately $5 billion worth of Tesla stock in the past few days.
To recoup losses in earlier trade, Telsa’s Frankfurt listed shares rose 4.1% ($953.05).
Musk sold his first stock market sale since 2016. He followed his Twitter poll (NYSE:) about selling 10% of his Tesla stake. This is the largest portion of his $281 billion fortune.
Musk’s trading is not important for stock prospects. Investors cite strong car orders, Musk’s belief in the company and Musk’s stated faith. However, brokers warned it could prove to be an uncertain day in U.S. commerce.
Dave Wang is a portfolio manager for UBS Global Wealth Management, Singapore. He stated: “It’s not like he doesn’t have a negative opinion of his company.”
Musk sold close to 3.6 Million Tesla shares to his trust, which was worth $4 billion. Additionally, he sold another 934,000 Tesla shares to $1.1 Billion to meet tax obligations.
These sales represent about 3% Musk’s total holdings. However, it was not clear whether they were related to Musk’s weekend Twitter poll.
