On Thursday, a federal appeals court granted the request of former President Donald Trump to temporarily stop the release White House records to legislators investigating the Capitol Invasion.

This court order was issued just one day before National Archives was due to start producing records for the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack.

Trump filed suit against the committee mid-October in an attempt to block it from seeking a portion of documents that were not part of Trump’s term. Trump claimed many records in question are covered by executive privilege. Executive privilege allows communications between the executive and executive branches to be kept secret. Biden declined to invoke privilege over the disputed records.

A federal judge rejected that argument on Tuesday

Jesse Binnall (Trump’s lawyer) asked Thursday morning the U.S Court of Appeals for District of Columbia Circuit temporarily halt the release of the disputed materials while the court considers another injunction.
