(Reuters) – Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:) reached a deal with Hilton to sell virtual healthcare services in the United States. This is a major customer acquisition for Amazon.com’s nascent health care business.

The financial terms of the agreement between the company and the hotel chain were withheld by the company.

Amazon Care is the world’s largest online retailer. It has been looking to sign up companies to Amazon Care. This on-demand healthcare service allows users to video chat with clinicians or receive home visits in certain cities. Amazon began piloting the service in Seattle, Washington for its employees in 2019 and has since expanded it to other cities.

Deal with Hilton Worldwide Amazon Care is now the first company to be reported by Reuters as Holdings Inc. It also marks its second-disclosed client, Precor Fitness, and Amazon Care’s first hotel customer. This shows that the company seeks to disrupt healthcare with its tried-and-true strategy.

Amazon created data centers for fulfillment of its ecommerce business and sold the infrastructure later to create its cloud-computing company. Amazon now seeks to maximize its profits from its healthcare service, which it first built to benefit its workers.

Kristen Helton from Amazon Care said it was an honor to work with Hilton’s large and varied workforce of employees in corporate and hotel chains.

She said, “That’s not an easily population to serve,” in an interview before the Reuters Total Health conference on Monday.

At December 31, 2020, Hilton employs approximately 141,000 worldwide. Amazon Care will be available to all employees in the United States who are enrolled under a company health plan.

This means that you can meet with Care Medical clinicians via virtual meeting, which is a company that focuses on Amazon Care customers. Amazon offers house visits in Greater Seattle and Washington-Baltimore, and plans to expand into Los Angeles, Chicago and Dallas as well as Philadelphia, Philadelphia, and Boston.

Helton claimed that the demand has been influenced by employers’ safety concerns during pandemics and their recruiting requirements in times of labor shortage.

She said, “Attracting and keeping talent in place is critical to businesses now.”

Hilton employees will have access to Amazon Care text chats for free. Provider video and home visits may cost a fee. Hilton covers workers’ care costs as well as a portion of their visit expenses. She refused to comment further on the pricing.

Rivals include Teladoc (NYSE:) Health Inc. Helton says Amazon wants to be different by offering hybrid virtual and in person care as well as a clearer user experience and lower costs.

“Bringing that transparency back into the patient is an area in which we are very concentrated,” she stated.
