Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has refuted the charges of spying against Natali Oknin (Mordi) and Bennett, stating that they are not employees for any Israeli agency. He sent a top emissary from his government to Turkey in order to assist with their release.

Bennett and Foreign Minister Yair Lepid jointly stated that “Mordi Oknin and Natali Oknin were freed from prison after joint efforts with Turkey” in a joint statement.

They expressed gratitude to President Erdogan and the Turkish government for cooperating and said they were looking forward to hosting the couple home.

Turkish authorities arrested an Israeli couple for spying on Erdogan’s home from Camlica Tower. The tower is a telecoms tower located in Istanbul, Turkey, according to the state-run Anadolu.

Anadolu stated that an employee tipped off the police following the discovery of the couple taking photos from the tower’s restaurant.

The report stated that a Turkish national who had been with the couple was also taken into custody on suspicion of spying.
