- Dubbed as ‘Cryptocurrency and Regulation of Official Digital Currency Bill, 2021’.
Indian authorities plan to incite crypto regulation. India has prepared to issue a new, unfriendly cryptocurrency bill in India to regulate all digital assets.
In order to do so, the bill proposal will be submitted to the parliament at the Winter session. It is expected to go into effect on November 29, 2019. To easily identify the bill among other existing ones, it is dubbed the ‘Cryptocurrency and Regulation of Official Digital Currency Bill, 2021’.
Like we said, this bill will ban any cryptos that have been deemed to be private. It is expected that India will allow only non-private cryptos into the country. It is not clear, however, how the government defines or understands private cryptos.
Meanwhile, major cryptos like (BTC), (ETH), and others are public cryptos, but we don’t know yet if the bill will regulate them as well. While crypto traders contemplate this issue, WaZirX CEO Nischal Shetty offered his opinions with an explanation of public crypto.
Private cryptocurrencies are difficult to understand by the government. Bitcoin, Ether, etc. These are open-source cryptos that have been built on public blockchains. They serve specific purposes. They are needed to run smart contracts and write to the distributed ledger that they’re built on top of. To pay fees for the Bitcoin and Ethereum Blockchain, people cannot use USDT or INR.
India will also create the framework necessary for the Reserve Bank of India’s yet to be issued official digital currency.
