European Stocks Edge Higher; Remy Cointeau Raises Outlook -Breaking

Investing.com. European stock market edged up Thursday Remy cointreau starring, while investors digested the formation of a new governing coalition in Germany as well as the region’s ongoing Covid-19 crisis.

After two months’ negotiations, the Social Democrats Greens and Free Democrats reached an agreement Wednesday. Olaf Scholz from the Social Democrats will succeed Angela Merkel after 16 years as German chancellor.
While the coalition promotes more public investments to accelerate the transition to a green economy and is expected to encourage additional investment, its primary priority will likely be to stop the return of the coronavirus pandemic to the continent.
Scholz announced Wednesday that mandatory vaccinations for selected groups are now required, however further steps may be necessary in order to address the increasing number of cases.
Italy issued new restrictions on Wednesday night, while France and the Netherlands are likely to announce new measures Friday. Austria instituted a lockdown in its national capital at the beginning of this week.
Germany was Europe’s most populous economy. The third quarter saw 1.7% growth quarter-on quarter. This is a decline from the 1.8% flash estimate published last month. Also, it marked a slowdown in comparison to the upwardly revised expansion rate of 2.2% for the second quarter.
Additionally, the country’s fell to -1.6 in December, from the previous month’s revised 1.0, as the rising number of Covid cases weighed on confidence.
Remy cointreau (PA) shares soared more than 9 percent after Remy Cointreau, the drinks company, raised its full-year profit outlook. This was after they reported an impressive jump in its first-half operating profit. It is attributed to strong demand for their premium cognac.
Crude prices stagnated Thursday with investors looking towards next week’s OPEC+ meeting for a reaction to the coordinated release of oil from government reserves by a number of major consumers, led by the United States.
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries of Russia and allies (also known as OPEC+) has been increasing global supply by 400,000 barrels daily since August. They meet on December 2 to discuss whether to keep this pace.
Futures were trading 0.2% less at $78.25 per barrel by 3:45 ET. Contracts were flat at $82.25.
