REUTERS/Shannon Stapleton (Reuters) – The lawsuit filed by Byron Allen (media entrepreneur) against McDonald’s Corp (NYSE) was dismissed on the grounds of $10 billion. Allen claimed that McDonald’s had discriminated against Black media outlets and that McDonald’s did not advertise with them.
U.S. District Judge Fernando Olguin of Los Angeles stated Tuesday that Allen’s two businesses did not provide enough evidence to prove that McDonald’s intentionally and purposefully discriminated against Allen.
Allen’s complaints state that McDonald’s refused to promote on his Entertainment Studios Networks lifestyle channels since 2009, and with The Weather Channel since Allen purchased its parent Weather Group.
Allen claimed that McDonalds’ allocation of advertising dollars was reflective of Chicago-based McDonalds’ “racial animus, racial stereotyping”.
Olguin claimed that Allen may file an amended complain.
Louis Skip Miller, an Allen lawyer, stated in an email that “We will add more details to your complaint as instructed by the court”
Loretta Lynch from McDonald’s stated in a statement that “this case is about revenue not race.” “We do not believe this is a meritless case.
