REUTERS/Stephen Lam/File Photo(Reuters] – U.S. prosecutors are searching for cases in which Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:) is not consistently enforcing app developer rules such as Roblox or others. The Information reported Monday that this was a result of people who were familiar with the situation.
According to the report, the Department of Justice (DOJ), is investigating key information from May’s antitrust trial between Apple, Epic Games, and Roblox. Roblox allows users to choose from various games, so Apple was arguing that Apple gave Roblox a free pass.
This led to Roblox changing the “game” reference from the website to “experiences”, according to Information.
Roblox recently answered a DOJ question about the reason for the language changes. According to the report, the DOJ also wanted to find out if Apple’s 2018 launch of Arcade made it more difficult to be a game developer in the face of the iPhone maker.
Reuters reached out to Apple and DOJ but did not receive a response immediately. Epic Games refused to comment.
In late October, the tech news site reported that the DOJ had intensified its antitrust investigation on Apple over the past few months. This increased the possibility of a lawsuit.
