Carolyn Everson of Instacart announced that she will be retiring at the end the year. This news is only three months ago that she joined Instacart.

Everson’s resignation is part of the latest restructuring in Instacart’s C-suite. Seth Dallaire (Instacart’s advertising head) has left. WalmartIn October. The company hired many top-ranking tech professionals from Facebook (now Meta). Amazon Google. Although Instacart has seen its valuation rise to almost $40 billion in the past year, Everson is used to leading larger teams. 

Everson worked for more than 10 year at FacebookFidji SIMO, Instacart’s CEO and ads chief was the most prominent hire. Simo, the former head of the Facebook app, took over from founder Apoorva MehtaThis year, it was in April. Everson was frequently regarded as the leading woman behind Meta’s CEO Sheryl Sandberg. Marne Levine promoted Everson to chief of business last summer, and Everson was the one who left the social networking site.

CNBC reported that Simo and Everson had made the mutual decision. 

Simo released a statement saying that they believe the decision was the right one for Carolyn and the company. Simo also stated that the roles she is looking for now are a reflection of her priorities. She will remain with us until the end of this year and she leaves the company as a friend.

Everson manages Instacart’s advertising, partnership, and policy divisions.

Instacart has named its advertising segment as its fastest growing, however, it is now looking to enter the cash-intensive market of quick commerce (or 15-minute delivery) to keep up with competitors like DoorDashAccording to anonymous sources, GoPuff and GoPuff were involved in the investigation. They weren’t allowed to comment publicly about it.

Instacart had been widely expected to go public in this year’s market, but it reportedly delayed plans to concentrate on its growth as the new leader. 

Everson shared in a post on Facebook that as she approaches her 50th Birthday, she will be taking time off to decide her next move.
