BoeingTuesday’s announcement by Airbus indicated that 34 additional planes were delivered to customers in the last month. This puts it on pace to surpass 2020’s total.
The November net order total was 91. Most of these 737 Maxes were new orders. It is the 10th straight month in which cancellations have been outpaced by new sales.
Boeing delivered 302 aircraft this year through November, already close to twice as many as the 157 it handed over in all of 2020 during the depths of the coronavirus pandemicThe worldwide groundeding of Boeing’s 737 Max aircraft after two fatal crashes lasted most of the year. In 2019, Boeing delivered 380 aircraft to its customers before the pandemic.
China approved an earlier plan which could permit the Max to fly again, as it was the country that ground the Max. Boeing said that about one third of its 370 Max aircraft were owned by Chinese airlines in October.
However, there are other issues. Boeing is still working through flaws in its manufacturing process, which has caused delays to 787 Dreamliner deliveries. This has hampered Boeing’s recovery efforts and complicated the schedule plans for large customers like American Airlines.
American announced last week that due to the delays, it will need to cut its long-haul international flights schedule in order for next summer.
