A Wednesday report by the National Bank of Kazakhstan (or NBK) states that it has received a significant increase in interest from customers. The central bank confirmed the feasibility of creating a digital currency that can be used by retail banks. This would use distributed ledger technology. In addition, the central bank tested how Kazakhstan’s citizens might use a digital tenge for offline payments as well as its programmability.
