(Bloomberg). The U.S. population grew the least in 2021 due to slowing migration and high birth rates. This was exacerbated after the Covid pandemic.

This year’s population growth was 0.1%, or 3926655 people. It is a much smaller rate than the increase during the flu pandemic and World War I. It’s also the first time since 1937 that the population has expanded by less than 1 million.

The data shows that Washington, New York, and Idaho were the areas with the greatest drop in population. However, Idaho, Utah, and the surrounding states saw the largest increase.

While the U.S.’s declining population growth rate has been an ongoing trend for many years, along with longer-term dynamics such as the aging of the population and lower birthrates, the pandemic also played a part. Since 2020, more than 800,000. Americans have been affected by Covid-19. The pandemic had a significant impact on international travel and migration trends in 2021.
