S&P 500 Closes at All-Time High on Quiet Pre-Holiday Trading, Omicron Optimism -Breaking

Investing.com: The close was at an all time high. It just missed its intraday record high. Other leading U.S. indexes were higher as a result of holiday trading volume and less optimism about the Omicron Covid-19 variation. This allowed for the “Santa rally”, a phenomenon that can be attributed to low trading volumes.
The S&P 500 ended the day fading from session highs, up .62% to 4725.74. Up 197 points, the closed at 35951, a gain of.55%. However, the once again outdid its peers and finished the day with a record.84% at 155653
Tesla (NASDAQ.) rose nearly 6 percent as investors shrugged at CEO Elon Musk’s ongoing share sales. The electric vehicle market was buzzing, with Nikola up 18%, Luminar up 5% and Nio up 2% at the end of each day.
As investors soaked in Micron Technologies (NASDAQ) Technologies’s positive report, this week, the stock reached an all-time high of 4.5%. Semiconductors, as a whole, continued to grow with the iShares Semiconductor ETF NASDAQ: up 1%.
For the week, the S&P 500 finished up 2.3% (4620.64), while the Dow finished up 1.65% 35365.44 and the Nasdaq finished up 3.2%.
