(Reuters) – China’s Geely Holding announced that Zeekr, its premium brand of electric mobility, would make electric vehicles to Waymo (NASDAQ:) Inc) and be used as autonomous ride-hailing cars across the United States.
Geely announced Tuesday that Zeekr will design and develop the cars and integrate it with Waymo’s autonomous driving technology.
Waymo, the only completely driverless taxi service available in America is unique. Since its launch in Phoenix, Arizona last year, Waymo has been used by thousands.
Zeekr’s partnership will allow Waymo to expand its driverless ride-hailing services as they become more competitive. It will also open the door for Geely, a Chinese company that is looking to enter the U.S.
