Gamestop hints at a forthcoming NFT marketplace for video games

GameStop (NYSE) was able to enjoy an entertaining business year. The firm faced off with Wall Street hedge fund at the beginning of the year. The firm’s shares are currently trading at $146.46 an unit, despite facing several bankruptcy concerns. The firm previously revealed that they were looking to hire a security analyst who has experience with blockchain, NFTs and cryptocurrency before expressing their interest in NFTs. The firm’s latest announcement today, posted on their website, did not include much detail about its intention to hire NFT content creators.

The official NFT website of GameStop states that the marketplace for NFTs is ready for launch. It also asks creators questions like what name they would like to use as NFT creators, if they’ve ever created an NFT, and whether or not they’ve used a wallet. GameStop is believed to be working in partnership with Loopring, an Ethereum token that Loopring describes as “open source, audited and non-custodial.”

These speculations resulted from a Canadian journalist asking Loopring’s Chief executive Officer Daniel Wang questions about the GameStop NFT rumors. GameStop has not yet provided any further details about the launch of their marketplace or how it will operate. Many people believe their NFT marketplace will be based upon the Ethereum blockchain, based on the Ethereum contract they have posted to their official website.
