Israeli study finds fourth COVID-19 vaccine dose boosts antibodies five-fold, PM says -Breaking

JERUSALEM, (Reuters) – A fourth dose COVID-19 vaccine increases antibodies fivefold a week following administration, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said Tuesday, citing preliminary Israeli findings.

Bennett stated that “a week into the fourth dosage we know to an even higher degree of certainty the safety of the fourth dose,” Sheba Medical Center’s Bennett spoke. The center is administering second booster shots as a trial for its employees amid the nationwide increase in Omicron variant infection.

He said, “The second piece is news: One week after administering a fourth dose of vaccines, we observe a fivefold increase in antibodies in the person vaccinated.”

Bennett stated in English that “this most likely means a substantial increase against infection,…hospitalisation, and (severe] symptoms.”

Israel is a leader in the study of COVID-19 vaccine effects. It was the country that rolled out the most COVID-19 inoculations in a short time span, and also the one to offer boosters for the third dose. Now, it is administering the fourth dose of BioNTech/Pfizer to seniors over 60 and healthcare workers as well as immunocompromised patients.
