Panel finds Canada’s practice of reserving dairy quotas ‘inconsistent’ with USMCA -Breaking

WASHINGTON (Reuters] – Canada may face possible countermeasures if the dispute panel finds it responsible for reserving the bulk of the in-quota dairy quantity (TRQs), for Canadian processors. This was a top U.S. trade representative said Tuesday.

According to the U.S. Trade Representative, Washington won the dispute resolution panel under the U.S. – Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement. This report concluded that Canada’s trade practices are inconsistent with the agreement.

According to the official, the United States expected Canada to solve the problem by Feb. 3, and that its goal was to not impose retaliatory actions but had the power to do so if Ottawa didn’t remove restrictions.
