TOKYO (Reuters – Japan’s consumer confidence dropped slightly in December. This was due to domestic COVID-19 case increases towards the end.

The Cabinet Office Survey showed that the sentiment index for general household, which considers views on incomes and job prospects, stood at 39.1 as of December, down from 39.2 as of November.

This marked the index’s fourth consecutive month of decline.

According to the government, there are still signs of improvement in its sentiment index assessment.
