NEW YORK, Reuters – Bank of America Corp (NYSE 🙂 announced Wednesday to workers that it would donate $100 to local food banks to every employee who receives a COVID-19 booster shot. The memo was seen by Reuters.

This is an update on $100 in financial incentives offered by some states and cities to newly-vaccinated citizens. It comes as businesses look to find ways to safeguard their employees and allow them to return to work.

Bank of America is the second largest bank in America. It said that they would give up to $10,000,000 for booster shots and workers who already have the shot.

According to Sheri Bronstein, Chief Human Resource Officer at Bank of America, the pandemic has increased food insecurity in the United States. This is affecting needy families as well as the non-profits who serve them. Bank of America has contributed $150 million since 2015 to combat hunger.

U.S. banks have been much more proactive than any other industry in encouraging their employees to return to work. A few big banks like Bank of America advise employees that they should work remotely for at most part of each month, in order to protect themselves from the Omicron variant which has seen COVID-19 rates skyrocket.

Bank of America encourages its employees to be vaccinated, boosted, and offers other incentives such as paid time off to receive the shots, $500 credit towards their health benefits premiums, and paid time off.
