Man from New York City was taken into custody Monday morning after allegedly threating to kidnap, kill and destroy former President Donald Trump.
According to a criminal complaint, Thomas Welnicki, 72, of Rockaway Beach (Queens), allegedly threatened Trump and a dozen other members of Congress in threats made over several phone calls to Secret Service office offices and law enforcement during the last year.
The complaint in U.S. District Court Brooklyn did not identify Trump by name. A footnote from that document however identifies Welnicki’s target, as the person who served in his presidency between January 2017 and Jan 2021.
Welnicki stated to the United States Capitol Police during a voluntary interview that took place on or around July 21, 2020. [Individual-1]Loses 2020 election, and refuses to stand down,” Wenicki says in complaint.
According to the complaint, Welnicki boasted about how simple it was to get a gun and said, “I don’t want to hurt anybody, but I will stand against fascism.”
Welnicki said, at the end, that she hoped God would take the time to interview her. [Individual-1]”It adds.
Welnicki will appear at Brooklyn Federal Court on Monday to face the charges.
