This was part of an ongoing investigation into the possibility that Gaetz trafficked a minor to sex. NBC News reported.
NBC reports that the girlfriend (whose identity was withheld) and her attorney were seen in an Orlando federal courthouse. The lawyer Tim Jansen refused to comment.
The Department of Justice representatives could not immediately be reached to comment on this report.
Gaetz is not being charged for any offenses and has denied wrongdoing repeatedly.
We have not seen any credible grounds to charge Congressman Gaetz. Isabelle Kirshner from his legal team, stated that she would not relent in challenging any allegations using the facts and law.
Wednesday’s action could be an important development in the nearly a year long investigation into sexual crimes committed against a Florida congressman. This has caused political havoc throughout Florida.
A former Florida official involved in the U.S. investigation pleaded guilty last year to six counts, including that of sexual trafficking of minors. Joel Greenberg was a lawyer representing Joel Greenberg. He had previously been a Seminole County tax collector.
Gaetz currently serves his third term at the U.S. House of Representatives. He was praised by Trump during a Florida rally, as a soldier fighting for Trump’s cause.
