NBA in the Metaverse: Brooklyn Nets are First to Join

Future-oriented ways to view sports are becoming possible. With leading NBA players like James Harden and Kevin Durant, the Brooklyn Nets have become the first American professional team to be able to stream their basketball games through VR.

Brooklyn Nets has launched a state-of-the-art video system that already delivered 3D actions on the team’s last game against the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Barclays (LON:) Center, Nets’ home court, is the first stadium in the U.S. to install this technology to provide fans with new ways to watch and enjoy NBA matches.

In the “Netaverse,” fans will be able to position themselves anywhere on the court by use of more than 100 high-resolution surrounding video cameras that create a 360° VR experience.

  • There might not be as many spectators at real stadiums if there are more professional sports teams joining the metaverse.
