Opera’s First Web3 Internet Browser for Cryptocurrency and Blockchain LaunchedInternet browser developer, Opera (NASDAQ:), announced Wednesday that it’s launching a brand-new browser solution that’s designed and optimized for all things blockchain including: cryptocurrency trading, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) purchases, blockchain news filters, a nifty privacy clipboard feature, and a built-in non-custodial digital wallet for storing cryptos or NFTs.
Opera’s announcement stated that the blockchain-boosted web interface is called the Crypto Browser Project. It’s currently available as a pilot program on Mac and Windows desktops, and Android for mobile users – the iOS version is still in development. It was specifically designed to work with Blockchain technology.
Web3 is the center of web browsers today. This makes it difficult for people to understand and use blockchain technology. With the Crypto Browser Project, we have set out to change this, and starting today; we are inviting the blockchain community to join this mission,” Opera stated in its announcement.
The Crypto Browser Project supports only a few blockchains at the time of beta launch. According to the company, it will continue expanding its offerings in blockchain as the project develops.
The most unique feature of the internet interface is the native crypto wallet. It is programmed directly into your browser and eliminates the need for additional digital wallet extensions.
“This provides additional security as both the browser and the wallet, which will be released as open source soon, have been developed by the same trusted teams in Sweden and Poland. You still want another wallet such as Metamask to store your funds? It will of course work in the PC browser – we have even implemented a new wallet selector tool to make this experience smooth,” the company further stated.
