(Reuters] – Gimlet Media’s Science Vs host and executive producer said that her show would be solely focused on addressing misinformation from other podcasts produced by Spotify parent company (NYSE:).

Wendy Zukerman’s announcement builds upon protests from Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and other people against Spotify’s Joe Rogan Podcast. They claim Spotify has not done enough to stop the spread COVID-19 misinformation.

Zukerman shared a copy from an email she wrote to Spotify CEO Daniel Ek in which she stated that she considers Rogan’s support a “slap in their faces” after spending months encouraging Spotify listeners to sign up for the service due to its support for her science-based podcast.

Spotify purchased Gimlet Media by Spotify in 2019.

Zukerman stated that Rogan’s interview of Dr Robert Malone (an infectious disease specialist, who is well-known among antivaccine Americans), took vaccine information “repeatedly and out of context”. He also lacked scientific evidence to support his claims. This topic will be addressed in a Science Vs Episode.

She stated that Spotify’s platform rules don’t go far enough in addressing the issue.

Zukerman posted a tweet to Ek about Science Vs that stated, “Until Spotify implements strong methods to prevent misinformation from being spread on Spotify, we won’t be making any new Science Vs episodes except those intended for contradicting misinformation being spread onto Spotify.”

Rogan’s interview was interrupted by Malone, prompting a protest from Neil Young. Young stated that he didn’t want his music to be on a platform which promoted false information about vaccinations.

He stated, “They could have Rogan and Young. They can’t have both. Joni Mitchell is a folk musician and she has removed her music to help Young.

Rogan posted an Instagram video on Sunday in which he apologized and promised more balance. Spotify promised to add a content advisory on any episode that includes discussion about COVID.

Reuters couldn’t immediately reach Gimlet nor Spotify to comment. Zukerman posted the post to her verified Twitter account.

Spotify bought Gimlet to expand its podcast business. This was a $100 million investment that saw an increase in audio content. The deal to add Rogan to Spotify in 2020, a deal which is reported to have cost Spotify over $100 million.
