Gold Up, Near Three-Month High as Ukraine Invasion Fears Linger -Breaking

Investing.com – Gold was up on Monday morning in Asia, after hitting a near-three-month high during the previous session. continue, which kept investors’ risk appetite down.
The yellow metal gained 0.3% to $1.853.65 at 11:31 ET (4:31 GMT). It reached its highest point since Nov. 19, when it was $1,865.15, during the last session. This is also the highest daily gain seen since mid October 2021.
U.S. fears of a Russian invasion in Ukraine sent Asia Pacific shares down and oil up seven years. Bonds also saw a lift, and the euro was no less popular.
The U.S. warned Sunday that Russia might soon create an excuse to attack its neighbor. Russia denied these allegations, accusing the West “hysteria” while it builds up troops at its Ukrainian border.
While the gold-like dollar moved in an opposite direction to its counterpart, Monday’s Dollar Index was slightly lower, and Monday’s benchmark U.S. Treasury Note also saw a slight increase.
On Friday, data showed that Michigan’s consumer expectations index had reached 57.4 for February. Inflation expectations are expected to continue increasing in the short term, so the Michigan consumer sentiment index dropped to 61.7 on Friday. These expectations are unlikely to derail spending, given excess savings and strong labor market recovery.
The minutes of the last U.S. Federal Reserve meeting will be released later in the week.
Silver rose 0.7% while platinum rose 0.8%. Palladium increased 3.7%.
