REUTERS/Arnd WiegmannZURICH, (Reuters) – Tuesday’s rebranding by ABB of Switzerland was a signal that the company behind turbocharging technology “Accelleron”, a subsidiary of ABB Group said it would decide whether or not to spin it off in the second quarter.
ABB will choose whichever path to seperate the company, but it should complete the process by the second half of 2022,” the group stated in a statement.
Bjorn Rosengren, ABB’s Chief Executive, has decided to seperate the company, which is in direct competition with Napier in Britain, Germany, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. This was part of his plan to concentrate the portfolio on electrification, automation, and other areas.
Turbocharging employs more than 2,300 people, and generated around $750 millions in revenue during 2021.
ABB has not provided any numbers regarding profitability. However, they have previously stated that ABB has an “attractive” profit margin.
Rosengren stated that a possible spinoff to the SIX Swiss Exchange in the second quarter was most probable two weeks ago.
ABB already sold Dodge, its power transmission unit, to RBC Bearings for $2.9 Billion (NASDAQ:). This was part of an overhaul.
E-Mobility, its electric charging company that it has been promoting to the public, was also mentioned.
