ADM sets record for single soybean shipment from northern Brazil -Breaking

SAO PAULO (Reuters) – U.S. grains merchant Archer-Daniels-Midland Co said on Tuesday it has carried out the largest soybean shipment in the history of the Ponta da Montanha Grain Terminal (TGPM), located in the northern Brazilian city of Barcarena, as it shipped 84,802 tonnes in a single vessel.

According to Reuters, it was also the biggest volume shipped by a vessel carrying grain from Amazon ports (NASDAQ:) Basin.

We now have another way to get soybeans across the TGPM. This is using our own boat. Vitor Vinuesa from ADM South America Logistics, stated in a statement that “This is certainly something we’ll do again more often”.

The bulk carrier MV Harvest Frost (owned by ADM) measures 237 meters (777.56 ft), and is 40 meters in width. It set sail for Rotterdam, Netherlands last week. A terminal also belongs to the company.

ADM said that all soy beans moved would be crushed to make biodiesel and other products.

In 2020, the previous record in terms of shipments from Brazil’s northern regions was at Santarem, where 82,531 tons of soybean were transported in one vessel.
