Investing.com — The stock market fell Tuesday. However, investors recovered some of their losses as they returned to work after a weekend of holiday weekends to see the news that Russia sent troops into separatist territories in Eastern Ukraine. This was to protest against American and European Allies.

As the West presses Russia President Vladimir Putin to end his aggressions against Ukraine, President Joe Biden is expected to add sanctions to the move. According to Tuesday’s reports, Biden considers the actions an invasion.

Stock market failures are not helpful Home Depot Inc (NYSE: ) was sold after reporting a decrease in gross profit margin during the quarter following rising employee and transportation costs.

The destabilization in Ukraine led to an increase in energy prices, with WTI crude oil, America’s benchmark, rising 2%. Germany stopped the progression of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline that was supposed to be Russia’s gas connection to Europe.

Reuters reports that the CBOE volatility index (also known as Wall Street fear gauge) was 29.40. This is well above its average long-term of 20.

Even though the Ukraine situation continues to evolve rapidly, stocks will be waiting on Wednesday for additional earnings as well as the latest oil inventory readings from the sector.

Three things could impact the markets in tomorrow’s future:

1. Lowe’s earnings

The construction and home decorating retailer Lowe’s Companies Inc (NYSE:) will declare its fourth-quarter numbers Wednesday. According to analysts at Investing.com, the company will report a $1.71 profit per share on revenues of $20.91 trillion.

2. Travel rebound?

Booking Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:)’ fourth-quarter revenue is expected to be $2.86 billion with profit per share at $13.40, according to analysts tracked by Investing.com. Analysts are waiting to watch to see if the Omicron variation of Covid-19 shows signs of slowing down.

3. Indicators for the industry

The oil industry’s reading on the latest crude inventory levels was delayed a day because of the holiday. The will report last week’s levels at 4:30 PM ET on Wednesday. The previous week’s reading was 1.07million.
