Federal Bureau of Investigation recently issued an RFP (Request for Proposals) This request was for cutting-edge software in order to detect illegal uses of crypto currencies. CID (Criminal Investigative Division) states that it is looking to purchase new software due to recent changes in illicit currency use.

The FBI stated that it is looking to acquire modern analysis and tracking tools capable of keeping up with rapidly changing technologies used by illicit entities in order to avoid detection.

The RFP requires the private contractor provide software to trace, graph, cluster, cluster, attribute and assign virtual currency transactions. The RFP also calls for software to allow the tracking of virtual currencies.
