WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – The chief executive officer Intel Corp (NASDAQ) will attend U.S. Senator Joe Biden’s inaugural State of the Union address before Congress on Tuesday night. This is as the Biden administration seeks out to highlight efforts to increase chip supplies.

Pat Gelsinger will be attending the annual speech. He announced the plans of the chipmaker for a $20 million Ohio-based chipmaking plant at the White House in January. This is because a worldwide shortage of semiconductors has hampered everything, from phones to cars. It could be worth $100 billion and make it the largest global chip-making complex.

Biden has been praised for rallying European allies against Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Now, he will focus on uniting Americans during his State of the Union address.

According to the White House he will emphasize efforts to improve supply chains and highlight the nearly $200 million in investments that were made by US companies for critical minerals, electrical vehicle and semiconductor production.

The White House said that he will mention Intel’s Ohio bet, which is likely to result in 7,000 construction jobs as well as 3,000 permanent ones.
