YouTube, Google Play suspend payment-based services in Russia -Breaking

(Reuters) – Alphabet, (NASDAQ:) Inc.’s YouTube, and Google Play Store have suspended payment-based services to Russia due to Western sanctions.

The company also announced that Google would halt ads targeting advertisers located in Russia on its networks and properties worldwide. The move is in addition the recent suspension of advertising in Russia by Google.

Following similar pauses in the past, Google and YouTube have stopped selling advertising online to Russia. Twitter Inc (NYSE: Snap Inc After Moscow invaded Ukraine, (NYSE:

YouTube released a statement Thursday saying that it was following up on the previous tweets.

Russia-based YouTube channels are still able to make revenue through viewers from other countries. These include Super Chat, merchandise sales and merchandise sales. According to company support websites, Russia still has access to free apps from Google Play.
