U.S. stocks higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 1.55% -Breaking

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The NYSE closed with an increase of 1.55% and the index climbing 2.24%. Meanwhile, the index gained 3.77%.

They were the top performers at the session Boeing Co (NYSE:) rose by 5.06%, or 9.10 points, to close at 188.99. Salesforce.com Inc (NYSE 🙂 gained 4.85%, or 9.51 points, to close at 205.65 Nike Inc (NYSE 🙂 traded up 4.84% or 5.78 point to 125.18 late in trade.

Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc., NASDAQ: was among the worst-performing sessions. It lost 1.64% (or 0.79 points) to end at 47.38. Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:) declined 0.87% or 1.54 points to end at 174.60 and Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:) was down 0.71% or 0.56 points to 78.08.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were EPAM Systems Inc (NYSE:) which rose 25.12% to 281.58, Moderna Inc (NASDAQ:), which rose 14.34% to settle in at 169.36 Las Vegas Sands Corp (NYSE 🙂 gained 11.88% and closed at 36.54

NortonLifeLock Inc. was the worst performer (NASDAQ:), down 13.28% at 26.11 in late-trade, and CF Industries Holdings Inc. NYSE:), losing 7.15% to settle for 88.08 Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE 🙂 was at its lowest point of 6.10%, falling to 421.32 at close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Sonnet Biotherapeutics Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 86.73% to 0.51, VNET Group Inc DRC (NASDAQ:) which was up 83.25% to settle at 7.00 and Kingsoft Cloud Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:) which gained 72.27% to close at 5.53.

These were the worst performers Tantech Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:), which fell 68.84% down to 0.50 late trade. Incannex Healthcare Ltd (NASDAQ:), which lost 59.41%, settled at 13.80 Blue Water Vaccines Inc (NASDAQ) was at its lowest point of 38.14%, falling to 42.00 by the closing.

The New York Stock Exchange saw rising stocks surpass declining stocks by 2577-637. 101 closed unchanged. On the Nasdaq Stock Exchange 3132 rose while 719 fell, while 142 closed unchanged.

Tantech Holdings Ltd shares (NASDAQ:), fell to their lowest levels in 68.84%, or from 1.10 to 0.50.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 10.59% to 26.67.

The April delivery of Gold Futures was lower by 0.22%, or 4.30, to $1.925.40 per troy ounce. In commodities trading, crude oil fell 1.66 percent to $94.78 per barrel in April. The May Brent oil contract dropped 2.32 percent to $97.59 per barrel.

The EUR/USD rose 0.7% to 1.10 while the USD/JPY rose by 0.39%, to 118.75.

At 98.36, the US Dollar Index Futures fell 0.71%.
