WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The State Department on Thursday said the resignation of the U.S. special envoy to Haiti was “unfortunate” and defended the Biden administration’s policies, saying for the envoy “to say his proposals were ignored is simply false.”

Ned Price, the spokesperson for the department said that it was unfortunate that Special Envoy Daniel Foote resigned rather than participating in a solutions-oriented political process. He chose not to use the many opportunities to express concerns regarding migration throughout his tenure, and resigned instead.
