MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Mexico’s government said on Sunday that it will resume flights to Port-au-Prince starting next week for Haitian migrants who want to return home.

In a statement by the Mexican government, they stated that flights from Tapachula to Chiapas or Villahermosa to Tabasco would be available to those who wish to go home.

The United States has detained and forced hundreds of Haitian onto deportation flights https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/haitian-migrants-face-crucial-choices-expulsion-flights-ramp-up-2021-09-23.

The aftermath of the assassination of President Joe Biden, gang violence, and the devastating earthquake in Haiti will be a problem for those who return.

In recent weeks, a camp was set up at the U.S./Mexican border. It included Haitians and added to President Joe Biden’s problems with his migration policies. On Sept. 18, the camp was home to 15,000 people.

The camp was evacuated of thousands of Haitians Friday. Some remained in America for the moment, while others were either expelled by deportation flight or returned home to Mexico.

Thousands of Haitians are still moving through Central America, with others among an estimated 16,000 awaiting boats into the jungles of the Darien Gap in Panama https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/thousands-mostly-haitian-migrants-traverse-panama-way-united-states-2021-09-26, an often dangerous bottleneck on the journey north.

Mexico said that it is working with Mexico to establish consular offices at Tabasco and Chiapas to help Haitian migrants.
