(Reuters) – Southwest Airlines (NYSE 🙂 announced Wednesday that normal operations had been resumed following mass cancellations on Saturday because of unfavorable conditions and traffic problems in Florida.

American Airlines cancelled more than 2,200 flights between Saturday and Tuesday, including 90 cancellations of nearly 3,300 flights.

Southwest Chief Operating Officer Mike Van de Ve had sent a late Sunday message to his employees stating that sudden cancellations of flight flights had created staff shortages. This may result in a decrease in number of flights Southwest can offer in November or December.
