One dead, seven injured in second shooting at Louisiana university in a week By Reuters

(Reuters] – The shooting that occurred early Sunday at Grambling State University, Louisiana, claimed the lives of one person and injured seven others. This was the second deadly attack on the university in as little as a week.

Grambling State tweeted that one of the victims was a student from the university. The rest, however, were not injured. It said that the shooting occurred at 1 AM during Homecoming Weekend.

Additional homecoming events were cancelled for Sunday, while classes for Monday and Tuesday were also canceled. According to the school, a curfew was in place on campus starting at 9:30 PM and ending at 6 AM until further notice.

Grambling State reported that this shooting happened just days after another student was killed in a gunfight outside the Favrot Student Union building. The shooting left two non-life-threatening injuries to the students who fled the scene. Officials confirmed that this incident took place at around 1:01 a.m.

On Wednesday, the university stated that it will increase campus security following this shooting.

The Louisiana State Police are currently investigating the incidents and believe that they are unrelated. According to the agency, Jatavious Carroll (18), also known by “Rabbit” was identified as a suspect in Wednesday’s shooting.

Agent asked for his assistance to locate him.
