These are the top 10 retirement spots in the U.S.

Covid-19’s pandemic changed Americans’ perception of retirement.

Yet one thing hasn’t changed — Florida is still the top destination thanks to its sunshine, beaches and taxpayer-friendly policies, a new U.S. News & World Report reportlocated. Eight of the top ten best retirement destinations in America are located in Florida.

U.S. News examined the availability of housing and the health and tax conditions in each area to create its list of top areas for retiring in 2021. The data came from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and Census Bureau, as well as Tax Foundation.

Sarasota in Florida took first place, beating out Naples (also from the Sunshine State), largely due to its more affordable housing.

According to Emily Brandon (U.S. News senior retirement editor), “Sarasota residents and Naples residents report high levels of well-being, and both cities received high scores for desirability.”

Pennsylvania is only one of the 10 top ranked states, but there are many other cities that have made it to the top 10. Brandon explained that this was usually due to the availability of quality health care facilities.

Also, the pandemic had an effect. 23 percent of people living at, or very close to the pandemic. retirementU.S. News reports that the pandemic changed people’s preferences about where to retire.

Brandon said that although the price of potential retirement spots is a major concern for retirees they also want a high-quality of life.

Here are the top 10 places for retirees, according to U.S. News & World Report.
