Card spending in UK falls below pre-COVID average

LONDON (Reuters – The spending of credit and debit cards in Britain dropped last week to 97%, compared to February 2020’s pre-pandemic average, according data released on Thursday.

These categories saw the largest declines in spending over the week. However, social spending as well as spending on items that are ‘delayed or unable to be resold were the lowest at pre-pandemic levels.
